Dan Hayton

Dan, who follows behind as the back marker on City Safaris, has been interested in Industrial Archaeology since a visit in the early seventies to the Peak District and this led to an interest in the History of Engineering.

These interests have led to him becoming involved with GLIAS and the Newcomen Society as a committee member and, over the years, Treasurer of both.

A combination of his career in computers and his interest in the history of engineering also led him to being Treasurer of the Computer Conservation Society, a specialist group of the British Computer Society with links to the Science Museum and the Museum of Science & Industry in Manchester.

He has been involved in organising national and international conferences, including editing papers for publication, and television and video productions.

He is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a member of the Institute of Advanced Motorists as well as the Kent Advanced Motorcyclists Group.
